Hickam is a former NASA engineer and bestselling author of the book ‘Rocket Boys,’ which was the basis for the movie ‘October Sky.’

‘CRATER’ is a youth science-fiction thriller.  Hickam will sign copies of ‘CRATER’ on Friday, April 13 at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Great Moonbuggy Race.

About the Book: Crater Trueblood is a 16-year-old Helium-3 miner on the Moon who must be braver than he thinks he can be. His companions include Maria, the daring 15-year-old granddaughter of his boss. Together they cross a thousand deadly miles on the Moon, then vault into space to find a mysterious treasure. Along the way, young readers learn about fusion energy, fuel cells, bioengineering, space suits, and a lot more, plus low-gravity sports like moonbuggy races and a three-dimensional ball game.
