Wesley Clark will campaign for Obama at Vinton event
August 01, 2012
One-time Democratic presidential contender and retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark will visit Vinton tonight on behalf of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.
Clark will launch the Obama campaign’s “Veterans Star Validators” program in Virginia, which is a group of retired high ranking members of the military who support the president. They’ll speak out on his behalf.
Then Clark, retired Army Brig. Gen. Larry Gillespie and retired Navy Rear Adm. Jamie Barnett will host a town hall discussion with veterans and military families at the Vinton War Memorial, 814 Washington Ave., at 6 p.m. According to the Obama campaign, the event “will focus on issues that are important to the veterans community, including the Obama administration’s increased funding and support for veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as ending the war in Iraq and bringing the war in Afghanistan to a close.”
The event is open to the public but space is limited. Anyone interested in attending should email email@example.com for more information.
