RICHMOND, Va. —
UVA standout and NFL Star Tiki Barber is headed to the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, but Monday afternoon, the Cave Spring High School graduate made a stop at the State Capitol.
Barber was honored with other members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2011.
Recognized on the floor of the House of Delegates and the State Senate, Barber said it was his first visit to Capitol Square.
“It’s humbling,” Barber told News 7. “There are so many great guys going in with me that it makes me feel good about the things that I did when I was an adolescent growing up in Roanoke and spending some time at UVA and becoming the athlete and the scholar that I was there.”
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 30th in Portsmouth. Barber will be honored along with six others, including Danville native Johnny Newman, who played 16 seasons in the NBA.
