STAR POWER The conference was the first that the Four A’s (formerly the American Association of Advertising Agencies) has held in the Los Angeles area, executives said, and as a result it featured a roster of celebrities.
Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas attended a panel discussion on sustainability. Ryan Seacrest of “American Idol” introduced performances, sponsored by Clear Channel, by four young musical acts: the Fun., Karmin, K’naan and the Wanted.
Anthony Zuiker, creator and executive producer of the “CSI” shows on CBS, discussed his online video work that includes “BlackBox TV,” a horror series on YouTube, and “Cybergeddon,” a movie that will appear on Yahoo and will be sponsored by brands like the Norton security software sold by Symantec.
Such branded entertainment works better than traditional television spots, Mr. Zuiker said, because “I’m TiVo-ing through the commercials you guys are spending money on.”
He added that he wanted to do a movie about Budweiser because “there’s a great story about Prohibition” and how Anheuser-Busch survived it.
