On Wednesday, MSNBC welcomed its newest contributor to the family: Meghan McCain.
The young pundit made her debut on the network on Wednesday morning, appearing with Thomas Roberts to weigh in on the GOP field. Roberts introduced McCain as the network’s newest contributor, and daughter of Senator John McCain and a Daily Beast columnist. She said, “Thank you so much, I’m very excited. I didn’t know it was going to be announced, but I’m very excited to be joining the MSNBC family.”
Her commentary on the candidates ran the gamut from Herman Cain’s scandal to Mitt Romney’s prospects. McCain approved of Cain’s handling of the controversy, and also said, “I actually don’t think the scandal is as big as many people think it is.”
McCain, who supports Mitt Romney, also responded to her previous comments that Romney lacked gravitas. She explained that she thought Romney’s lack of rock-star status was actually a boon to his candidacy, after Obama was elected in 2008.
