On the eve of Veteran’s Day, a retired four star Army General and Little Rock native speaks out for military service men and women.
General Wesley Clark kicked off the University of Arkansas Veterans week celebration at the Walton Arts Center Thursday night. The General and former NATO commander told the crowd Americans have been supportive.
“It’s a much different atmosphere today than when it was when I came back from Vietnam on a stretcher in 1970,” General Clark says. “And I certainly welcome the change, and I know our men and women do appreciate it.
Clark he says there’s still work to be done. Veterans need jobs. The unemployment rate for veterans is three percent higher than the national average.
“They’ve got all the qualities it takes to make successful contributions to the business team if we just give them the opportunity,” General Clark says.
