Mia Farrow And Martin Sheen To Appear Again At We Day

By Elizabeth Willoughby on

Actors and activists Mia Farrow and Martin Sheen plan to attend We Day yet again as “Shameless Idealists”, on 27 February in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The first of over ten We Days planned across the country this year, thousands of Saskatchewan students will gain entrance to the event not by purchasing tickets, but through their own acts of activism.

According to founding brothers Craig and Marc Kielburger, Free The Children’s We Day was created to show that changing the world is cool and possible for young people, as well as to be the platform for a nationwide social movement using schools across the country as distribution centres. Working with 130 school boards, change in the world is becoming part of the curriculum along with mathematics and literacy.

At the event, guest celebrity activists and remarkable young activists tell their real life stories before a crowd of 20 thousand youths who gain inspiration, motivation and a sense of community. The Kielburgers describe We Day as a year long campaign that provides curriculum for schools, in-service training for teachers, smaller rallies, events with students and a million hours of volunteer work.

“We Day is the day where everyone can be a shameless idealist in a room together, and then suddenly realise, when there’s 20 thousand of us, maybe this is very real,” says Craig Kielburger. “We Day is not just a day. It becomes a lifestyle of social change.”
