LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – During half-time of the Texas Tech v. Weber State game Saturday, Leigh Anne Tuohy spoke to fans. Tuohy is probably best known for The Blind Side. The book turned movie featured Sandra Bullock as Tuohy, who’s family adopted Michel Oher, the former Ole’ Miss football player who now plays for the Baltimore Ravens.

She told fans about Alex Brown, and her family’s mission to get people to stop texting and driving. Tuohy is now a designer with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. As we’ve shown you all week, the crew is here on the South Plains building a new home for Alex’s family in Wellman.

This weekend, students from Texas Tech’s landscape architecture department are helping to landscape the property. 85 students will install a drought tolerant design.

The house is scheduled to be unveiled on Monday, and the reveal will feature a mural painted by Dawn Green. She’s a teacher at Whiteside Elementary in Lubbock. Then on Tuesday, around 40 high school students from Lubbock are scheduled to head down to Wellman to help clean-up after the presentation.

There is also an event scheduled for Sunday at Seagraves High School. All we are allowed to say is that it’s a “celebrity” event. The public is invited to attend. It starts at 3:00 p.m.
