Filmmaker, author and journalist Sebastian Junger received a career achievement award from Florida State University on Monday, as part of the school’s annual Student Veteran Film Festival.
The Student Veteran Torchlight Award for Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking was presented to the Perfect Storm author and the co-director of 2010’s Restrepo, the harrowing, Oscar-nominated documentary about a platoon stationed in Afghanistan. The late Tim Hetherington, Junger’s co-director on Restrepo who was killed while covering the conflict in Libya as a freelance photojournalist, is the subject of Junger’s latest documentary, Which Way is the Front Line From Here? The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington. That film screened at the festival, followed by a panel discussion.
