Henry Winkler revisits ‘Childrens Hospital’

Henry Winkler is taking another trip to “Childrens Hospital,” the subversive Adult Swim comedy that returns to Cartoon Network for a fourth season tonight at midnight.
Winkler, a former Mahopac resident, joined the Rob Corddry-led cast at the start of the second season. Winkler plays hospital administrator Sy Mittleman, who shows compassion for the patients, and a little too much enthusiasm for butterflies.
If you’ve never seen the show that began as a Web series, it’s about the trials and tribulations of the staff of a hospital named after one Dr. Arthur Childrens (hence the lack of an apostrophe in the show’s title). It’s also a who’s-who of underground comedy, with recognizable faces from “Party Down” (Ken Marino, Megan Mullally) and some of the top comedians to emerge from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre — including Corddry, Rob Huebel, Ed Helms and Brian Huskey. Even “Mad Men’s” Jon Hamm has made a couple of cameos.
Two of the recurring cast members are former Sarah Lawrence College student Jordan Peele and Rye native Nick Kroll, the latter of whom plays Little Nicky, a child with a rare aging disease. And, yes, Kroll was in his 30s when his parts were filmed. It’s that kind of show.
