Ex-child soldier tells of reform
Watch Video Here
School Reporters at Royds Academy in Leeds have been studying conflict in its many forms.
They got the opportunity to interview child soldier-turned-rapper Emmanuel Jal.
He was recruited to fight in Sudan’s civil war when he was a young child and spent several years fighting until he ran away and was rescued. He eventually came to the UK.
Eleven students from Royds Academy found out about his campaigning for peace in the recent elections in Sudan, and how music had become his therapy.
School Report is an annual BBC project which helps young people make their own news reports for a real audience.
