Neil Gaiman’s ‘Graveyard Book’ to Become a Graveyard Movie

British author and pioneer of comic-book respectability (with a spectacular run on DC’s Sandman) has a book heading right for the big screen. Neil Gaiman’s Newberry Award-winning novel The Graveyard Book was originally set-up at Chris Columbus’ 1492 Pictures, but it’s now moving forward as the first full-blown live action production by visual effects house Framestore.
According to Bleeding Cool, the novel – a gothic take on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book about a boy raised by ghosts – already has a writer and director in another Neil, that being Neil Jordan, the man behind The Crying Game and Interview with the Vampire. It’s casting now, for a spring shoot with a budget of right around $60 million, says Variety. The title will be shortened to simply Graveyard.
This isn’t Gaiman’s first foray into film, as his books Stardust and Coraline were adapted into movies.
