US Gen. Wesley Clark accepted to become Prime Minster’s adviser on strategic and security issues, PM Victor Ponta announced late on Thursday.
‘Today, we have had a first meeting and talk whose most important topics were the investments and Romania’s energy and agricultural potential. Surely, we have also approached political issues, but I apologized for his arriving in a very tensioned political moment, but strategy means long-term, and I hope to benefit a lot from the experience and the know-how of such a personality as Wesley Clark,’ PM Ponta said.
In his turn Gen. Clark said he is honored he can help Romania’s Government and people.
It is a honor to be here in Romania, with you, and I am very enthusiastic about the opportunity that Romania offers the world, with its solid economic potential in fields such as the energy, the strategic minerals and particularly the agriculture, Gen. Clark stressed.
According to Governmental spokesman Andrei Zaharescu, Wesley Clark a honorary personal adviser of the Prime Minister, he will not be paid and will not attend the Cabinet’s meetings.
