Against great odds, Mayor Cory Booker is spearheading a city wide transformation in Newark making measurable and even dramatic change.  At the podium, he inspires students to transform the world with their bare hands.

Cory Booker isn't one to give up, which is why you may have seen him on Conan O'Brien earlier last month defending his city after a month long feud that began with a Conan joke that went a bit too far.  His defense of Newark, ability to inspire people of all ages and the feud itself drew national attention and even Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stepped in to mediate.

Named by US News and World Report last month as one of
America's 13 Best Leaders, Mayor Booker brings his passion for social change to campus, with stories informed by real life that inspire students to take responsibility and help America live up to its promise.

CBS News and 60 Minutes Correspondent Byron Pitts was once an inner-city kid considered to be a recipe for failure.  Pitts struggled with a debilitating stutter and hid an embarrassing secret: he was functionally illiterate.

Now a prominent national journalist, Pitts has earned eight Emmy Awards, a National Association of Black Journalists Award, and four Associated Press Awards.  Yet he was told he wasn't "college material" and should simply drop out of school.

Drawing from his memoir Step Out On Nothing, Pitts inspires audiences to see obstacles as opportunities and to never give up - a welcome message for students of all walks of life.
