Phyllis Chesler

Human rights advocate & acclaimed author

Dr. Phyllis Chesler is an expert on some of the most pressing and controversial issues of our time. She is well versed in everything from gender studies to Middle Eastern politics, from psychotherapy to human and religious rights. A radical feminist, Chesler is also a passionately religious Jew and a committed Zionist whose twelfth book is entitled The New Anti-Semitism: The Current Crisis and What We Must Do About It.

An intimate and informed plea for world sanity, fairness and openhearted communication, The New Anti-Semitism chronicles the worst plague of violence against Jews since the Second World War, as well as terrorism against America. She exposes the worldwide coalition that's responsible for this violence, including Islamic terrorists, pro-Palestinian students, right-wing fascists, left-wing ideologues and academics, feminists, opportunistic European politicians, and media who have joined together in a new, virulent anti-Semitism that is often carefully hidden beneath "political correctness." Erica Jong called the book, "Absolutely amazing... indispensable," and Alan Dershowitz wrote, "The New Anti-Semitism by Phyllis Chesler is a passionate and beautifully written book.... This book will make you weep. It will also make you angry and frightened."

Debunking the "Big Lies" that feed this new anti-Semitism, Chesler breaks down rigid, dogmatic ideologies and offers real answers for achieving true peace and understanding. An experienced lecturer, she brings her vast experience to the podium in an unforgettable presentation.

An emerita professor of psychology and women's studies, Chesler is also a psychotherapist and expert courtroom witness, and a cofounder of the Association for Women in Psychology and the National Women's Health Network. She has lectured and organized political, legal, religious and human rights campaigns in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.

Chesler has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, Oprah, The O'Reilly Factor, Nightline, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and Court TV. She was a regular contributor to NPR's program "At the Opera," and has appeared on network and local radio and television programs all over North America. Her twelve books, many articles and thousands of speeches have inspired people on many diverse issues. Some of her books include Women and Madness, With Child: A Diary of Motherhood, Letters to a Young Feminist and Women of the Wall: Claiming Sacred Ground at Judaism's Holy Site.

After beginning Torah study in 1989, Chesler published her first d'var Torah in 2000. She has lived in Kabul, Afghanistan and in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
