Exclusive Representation by Greater Talent Network
Liz Lange, founder and President of Liz Lange Maternity, is a fashion and retail pioneer. Armed with the philosophy that women should look and feel beautiful during pregnancy, she has single-handedly revolutionized maternity style and society's perception of pregnant women, in nine short years. Today, the high-end Liz Lange Maternity Collection is sold at Liz's five Liz Lange Maternity boutiques, the Liz Lange e-commerce website and via national and international wholesale business.
Lange's career was in full swing when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was told she would need a hysterectomy. “I went through the surgery, chemo and radiation. But it was a terrifying thing to face.” Lange's story helps women cope with the struggle of balancing work, family and children while undergoing cancer treatments and surgery. “I didn’t share it back then, I kept it private,” she told Fox News. “So I put it in a small black box and continued with my business . . . in the midst of still being a wife and mother.”
Lange's business achievements and swift expansion drew the attention of major retailers in pursuit of licensing relationships. In 2001 - the same year she was diagnosed - Nike approached Lange to create the Liz Lange for Nike line of maternity active wear to be sold in both Lange's boutiques and through Nike's retail channels. To this day, Lange is the only fashion designer that Nike has ever asked to design licensed product for them. In 2002, Lange began a design partnership with the Target Corporation. She designs the Liz Lange for Target line, the only maternity product sold in all Target stores in the United States.
Liz Lange's accomplishments have been highly praised by the business community. Her work has been covered by Fortune, Entrepreneur Magazine, Women's Wear Daily, The Harvard Business Review and Crain's New York, who named her to their "40 under 40" list. Liz Lange frequently appears on television on shows such as Bravo's Top Design for which she was a guest judge, and provides commentary on maternity fashion for programs like Access Hollywood and CNN. She is a member of many prestigious business organizations including c200 (The Committee of 200) and CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America). She is also the author of Liz Lange's Maternity Style: How to Look Fabulous During the Most Fashion-Challenged Time.
At the podium, Lange is engaging and energetic as she shares the remarkable story of her journey as an entrepreneur and as a woman challenging the assumptions and accepted wisdom of the market segment she correctly recognized as under served. While speaking frankly and sharing anecdotes, Lange explores how she has ultimately has been successful not just in business but in helping pregnant women of all shapes, sizes and budgets feel as empowered and attractive as the celebrities who wear her high-end apparel. With great warmth and insight, Lange demonstrates the traits necessary to survive everything from launching a multi-million dollar corporation to fighting cancer.
At A Glance: Charity and community involvement play a key role in Lange's business acumen. She currently sits on the Champions for Children Committee for Safe Horizon, a foundation whose mission is to provide support, prevent violence and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse. She is a board member of Fertile Hope, a charity dedicated to providing education about fertility issues to women coping with cancer. In the past, she was a board member of Baby Buggy, Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld's organization, that helps to bring gently used baby gear to families in need. She often chairs charity events in her hometown of New York City, including Baby Buggy Gala, The Maternity Center Association's Gala and the American Museum of Natural History annual Family party. Additionally, Liz works with the Clothes Off Our Back foundation, the Elizabeth Glaser AIDS foundation and sits on CFDA's Fashion Targets Breast Cancer committee.
Liz Lange lives in New York City with her husband, Jeffrey Lange, and their children Gus and Alice.
