Anthony Perkins

Founder of Red Herring and Always-On

Exclusive Representation by Greater Talent Network

Tony Perkins is a pioneering media entrepreneur and a highly recognized opinion leader in the technology business and investment editorial world. He earned this distinction as the creator and editor-in-chief of Red Herring and the AlwaysOn network.

Founded by Perkins in 1993, Red Herring's revenues soared along with the rest of the technology world. Even so, Perkins recognized that only a few companies would be profitable over the long term. Using his remarkable foresight, he co-wrote the book The Internet Bubble: Inside the Overvalued World of High-Tech Stocks, which foretold the Internet bust and warned investors to get out quick. The Internet Bubble became an international best seller, and a sequel was published in 2001.

In the aftermath of the Internet stock bust, the technology and media industry recessions, and 9/11, Perkins helped guide Red Herring to become the last independent technology business magazine standing. With Red Herring stabilized and poised for the next boom, Perkins recently launched a new media brand called AlwaysOn (www.alwayson-network.com), a highly interactive online network for technology insiders.

Perkins's mission with both Red Herring and AlwaysOn is to continue to help deliver the brightest thinking, the best analysis, and the most focused reporting and research for the benefit of entrepreneurs and investors around the globe.

At the podium, Perkins discusses the next economic boom that, this time, will be based on real-world value and will be centered around always-on driven business and consumer technology worlds. With unmatched depth of analysis and insider perspective, he delivers an understanding of how technology and the Internet are changing the worlds of communication, business and entertainment. Perkins also examines the economic future of technology companies, highlighting trends and offering insight into the changes the current investment climate demands.

Perkins also continues to chronicle the technology world in a regular column in The Wall Street Journal, and as a television commentator for MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, CNN, CNBC, BBC, and Bloomberg television. As the result of his prolific editorial output, Perkins is consistently ranked as one of the top ten technology business journalists by Adweek's Technology Marketing magazine.

Perkins's public activities have included serving on President George W. Bush's Information Technology Advisory Council and founding chairman of the Churchill Club in Palo Alto, California, for which he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Perkins also received the Albert Einstein Technology Medal from the State of Israel. He has been a member of the World Economic Forum?s Media Leaders group since 1996.

Prior to launching Red Herring and AlwaysOn, Perkins was founder and CEO of Upside Publishing and vice president of business development at Silicon Valley Bank.
